Obituary for
George Moss
George Moss, 80, of the Valleyview area in Edmonton, died Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Misericordia Community Hospital.
Born on a farm near Willingdon, Alberta he attended Willingdon Elementary and Willingdon High School. After his primary schooling he moved to Edmonton and attended the University of Alberta while making frequent trips back to help his parents Bill and Ann Mascaluk on the farm. He then moved to Toronto where he studied Securities, Economics and Marketing.
George was a pillar in the Romanian community and was the president of the Canadian Romanian Society of Alberta, president of the Sts. Constantine and Elena Romanian Orthodox Church, a board member for Vista Senior Housing and a volunteer for Edmonton Heritage Days for 42 years. He was instrumental in building the Casa Romana Seniors Complex and helped build and maintain the Romanian Pioneer Museum at Boian, Alberta. He was also an avid world traveler who visited many countries.
George is survived by his two sons, Liam Moss and Michael (Cammille) Moss; grandsons, Leo and Noah; sister, Patricia Mascaluk; and brothers, Bernie (Jolyn) Mascaluk and Armand (Deanna) Moss. His brother, Danny Mitchell Mascaluk died in September.
George will be greatly missed by all worldwide and was deeply loved abroad by his extended Australian family.
Viewing to be held Friday, January 28, 2022 between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. at Park Memorial Funeral Home, 9709 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton.
Per Alberta’s Restriction Exemption Program, be prepared to provide proof of Vaccinations for the Funeral Service (QR code along with valid ID if 18 or over), or proof of a negative rapid COVID test taken within 72 hours of entry, or an original medical exemption letter.
Prayer service to be held Friday, January 28, 2022 at 7 p.m. at Sts. Constantine and Elena Romanian Orthodox Church , 9005 132 Ave NW Edmonton.
Funeral Rite to be held Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 10 a.m.at St Mary’s Romanian Orthodox Church in Boian.
