Obituary
With overwhelming sadness the family of George William Penney announce his passing on January 1st, 2022 after suffering from the many stages of Dementia.
Due to Covid restrictions no services were planned at that time.
His family will be holding a Memorial service on Friday, June 10th at 12:00pm at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, St. John’s in his memory.
Burial will follow at 3:00pm at the Anglican Cemetery, Harbour Grace. All friends and relatives are welcome to attend.
The family kindly asks that masks be worn and social distancing regulations be complied with.

Sadness overcomes us as we, the wife and daughters of George William Penney announce his passing on January 1, 2022, in his 85th year, after a courageous battle through the stages of Dementia.
George is predeceased by the following family members: father and mother, Ches and Ina Penney; father and mother-in-law, Russ and Anne Alcock; brothers Ches, Malc, Jim, Fred and baby brother Neville; sister-in-law Evelyn Penney.
George is mourned by his wife of 59 years Helen Alcock Penney; daughter Carolyn and her partner Youness; daughter Georgina and her husband Korey; grandson Landen Costain; granddaughter Adeline Costain; special cousin Gloria Follett; brothers Jordan Penney and wife Helen, Orville Penney and wife Betty; sisters Elizabeth Winter and husband Hallett, Norma Pilgrim and husband Calvin, Anne Thistle and husband Alex, Glennis Murray and husband Glenn; sisters-in-law Anne Penney and Iris Petten; life-long friends Kevin and Margaret LaCour; special friends Sherry and Jaxon; many nieces, nephews and friends both in Newfoundland, Ontario and Florida.
George was the kind of person we should all aspire to be. He was unselfish, hard working and insightful. He worked so hard to give his family everything and asked for nothing in return. He will be forever missed.
