George Sheldon Hoar 19382022

George Sheldon Hoar
1938-2022
George Sheldon Hoar, 83, of
Riverside-Albert,NB passed away peacefully on April 4th, 2022
at the Moncton Hospital.
George was born in Hebron, on April 26, 1938, the son
of the late William and Arletta (Walton)
Hoar.
George
was a hard working, dedicated, family man, who took pride in his work
and the family he raised. He started out working in the
woods from an early age and it turned into a lifelong hobby. He was
truly a jack of all trades, from electrical, plumbing, carpentry,
woodworking, he could do whatever he set his mind to. He and
his wife, Vivian, raised their children in Cape Enrage, where George
worked as a lighthouse keeper for the Canadian Coast
Guard for 15 years. He then transferred to the Musquash light station
and then to the Canadian Coast Guard Base in Saint John until his
retirement when George and Vivian returned to Albert County to be
closer to their families. He was a member of the West River
United Church and a Director of the Hopewell Cemetery Company. In his
spare time, he enjoyed spending time in the garden,
tinkering in the garage, admiring and talking about vehicles,
and he loved attending social gatherings and lending a
helping hand around the community. He was never afraid to be
silly or joke and tease, he loved making people laugh and
smile. George and Vivian had a strong and loyal bond and
took every opportunity they had to spend time with their
family. They made many wonderful memories while camping and
travelling. Their grandchildren and great grandchildren were their
pride and joy, there was nothing George wouldn’t do for
them. With his gentle voice, kindness, and sense of humour,
George lived a happy life and cherished all his family, and the
friends he met along the way.
“For having you in our lives we’ve
all been blessed, but now the time has arrived for you to rest. We
promise to cherish our memories of you. You shall live in our minds
and all that we do.”
George will be deeply missed by his children, Sheldon
Hoar (Janet) and Valerie Woodworth (Andrew) both of Hopewell Hill;
treasured grandchildren, Leslie (Casey), Dennis, Stephen (Alisha),
Jonathan (Jossie), and Timothy (Jay); precious great grandchildren,
Easton and Jackson; sisters-in-laws, Mabel Hoar, Mary Hoar, Velma Hoar
and Glenda Wright, brother-in-law, Merrill Stevens. He will also be
missed by several nieces and nephews.
George was the last surviving member of
his immediate family. Besides his parents he was predeceased
by his beloved wife, Vivian, brothers, Gerald, Frank (Anne), Donald,
Everett, Reginald (Dorothy),Sterling, sisters, Verna Moore (Everett),
Della Dowe (Glen), Marilyn Wortman (Ray), and Jean Russell
(Joe).
The
family will be having a private service with Rev. Peggy Reid
officiating. Interment will be held in the Hopewell
Cemetery, Hopewell Hill, NB.
For those who wish, donations to the Hopewell
Cemetery, Forest Dale Home, or the charity of the donor’s choice would
be greatly appreciated by the family.
