Obituary
A marvelous spirit has just left us and a little magic has gone out of the world.
George Barbu passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital on August 22, 2022 at the age of 78. Loving Father to Danielle Barbu and Shelley Madison, brother to Betty-Anne Dennis, and Uncle to Robert and Sam Dennis. Predeceased by his parents George and Jean Barbu.
George was a proud father and well-respected entrepreneur in Burlington who led his printing company to a successful exit. His ability to connect with people was one of his gifts, and he maintained many lifelong friendships.
George “Pops” will fondly be remembered for his sense of humour, charisma, and as a self proclaimed car nut and movie buff who loved to make others laugh. George cared for his friends and family dearly and was always the life of the party. Despite facing health challenges for many years, he was strong and always kept a positive attitude.
George was one-of-a-kind and will truly be missed by all who were fortunate to have been part of his life.
Friends may visit with the family at KITCHING STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown, on Saturday August 27, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Following the Visitation, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. GABRIEL’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2261 Parkway Dr., Burlington at 11 a.m. Cremation will follow at Evergreen Crematorium.
In lieu of flowers and to honour his love of dogs, donations can be made to the Ontario SPCA, where he adopted his rescue dog Hank.
