CONKLIN: George – passed way peacefully on Saturday, May 7, 2022 a the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital. George Conklin of Langton formerly of Walsingham in his 76th year.
Dear father of Sean & Coralee of Walsingham and Ryan of Courtland. Remembered by his partner Rita Milton of Langton. Survived by his sisters Shirley Smith of Walsingham and Lois Young of Tillsonburg and by his brother-in-law John Massecar of Tillsonburg and by his former wife Cheryl Ann Lewis of Courtland and by several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his cherished parents Ervin & Alice (Rutledge) Conklin, by his sisters Marilyn Massecar and Audrey Conklin, brothers-in-law Harold Smith and David Young.
George served as a custodian of Walsingham Public School for 35 Years. He was a well known painter having sold art internationally. George visited Algonquin Park 58 years in a row canoeing its lakes and then painting its scenery. He also attended over 150 rock concerts. He coached Ontario Championship Teams in Softball, Baseball and Hockey. In his later years he greatly enjoyed going to the areas High School football games with friends and had an intense love for his rural roots and community.
Relative and friends will be received in the Jeffrey W. Glendinning Funeral Home, 36 Front St. Port Rowan on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Funeral service will be conducted in the Clark Chapel of the funeral home on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 11:00am. Interment to follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Walsingham.
