Darlene Fowler and Richard (Rickey) Lawrence(Anita) helped God give his precious angel wings to our Dad George Brushett. Dad’s love of his life Patricia Brushett greeted him with opened arms on August 18,2022
George Jr. was born on August 26, 1937 to a very special couple Charles and Florence(Carter). George’s brothers and sisters were so delighted to have a baby brother.
Dad decided to work beside his Dad in Colliery 26 mine. He realized that this job was not for him. He told his parents he was moving to Toronto to be with his sisters. One day he found his love of his life Patricia. Dad and Mom form some roots in Toronto. Dad was employed with Presswood as a trucker driver and when Presswood closed, he was employed with Canada Packers as a truck driver.
Dad and Mom decided that the fast life was not the best for the children. They decided to move to Glace Bay.
George joined his brother’s business Brushett’s TV Rental and repair. After the business closed Dad open Brushett’s Variety. This is where he retired from.
Dad and Mom were avid campers. Many times you could see Dad explaining different things to Darlene and Rickey about camping and fishing.
Dad , you taught us to live and respect. You were always there to listen to us, but never pried, give your advice and make our gray days into sunshine days.
Dad is survived by his daddy ‘s girl Darlene Fowler and son Richard (Rickey) Anita . Brother Donald, Glace Bay, brother in law Alan Meyers (Franca),Guelph sister in law Gloria Gath Lefroy, Lois Meyers Guelph, many nephews and nieces and cousins. Dad was survived by a very special niece. Heather Cummings, She would always visit when she came from Yarmouth. Always, a very special couple that Dad loved when they came to sit on the front step to talk, or help Dad with a project. Alfie and Joni Robertson.
George is predeceased by his loving parents Charles and Florence(Carter) of Glace Bay, his love of his life of 52 years Patricia . Patricia was given her wings on March 19, 2022. Brother, Alexander(Elizabeth or Lizzie) Petrie of Glace Bay, sister in law Margarite MacKeigan Brushett sisters Lillan (Saunders) Clarke Ont, Irene (Alex or Lickey) Ont, Dorothy (Sam) Yarmouth. Nephew Eddie Wojeck Ont. Brother in law Jack ( Mary) Meyers ont, Bobby (Margaret) Ont, Dorothy(Bruce) Ont. Dad had a very special son in law he loved so dearly Duncan Fowler.
a committal service will be held on September 23, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. in Greenwood cemetery with Rev. Dorothy Miller officiating. A memorial tea to follow at 865 main street.
It’s never the right time to say goodbye.
I will miss you Dad and here is why,
You taught me so much,
To show no fear to always have fun,
And to face the day with great cheer.
Dad you were always so able, so fast, and very strong
In your little girl’s eyes you could do no wrong.
You would always listen and you never pried.
You were the arms around when I cried
You would never look for praises and you were never the one to boast.
You were always there for those you loved most.
You worked so hard Dad with strong working hands.
You led me through life and help me understand that life can be hard and tough,
and sometimes sad, but through it all I had my Dad.
Because of you I truly understand that life was actually pretty good.
I believe in you and will try to follow your path
And when things go wrong I’ll look back and remember to laugh.
Dad, I hope you can hear me so I can let you know that you were and will ever be my superhero!
Yes, I am full of sorrow but I will try to smile more.
Dad, go be at rest and know to me YOU ARE THE BEST!
