In loving memory of Gemma Donato (Greco), 81 years, Thursday morning, March 24th. Gemma was born in Rocca San Giovanni, Abruzzo, Italy on April 17, 1940. The second eldest of 5 children, she was part of a loving family who eventually immigrated to Canada, settling in Toronto. She married Joseph Donato in 1964, and settled in Sudbury shortly after. While in Toronto, she became an impressive seamstress, able to make her own patterns, and throughout her life she was often busy making clothes for herself, her family, and friends. She was an amazing cook, and was famous for her pizzas and pizzelle. Gemma was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and a longstanding member of the CWL. She easily made many friends in her neighbourhood and throughout Sudbury, and proudly became a Canadian citizen in 1977. Gemma’s top priority was her family, and she will always be lovingly remembered as a sister, mother, aunt, and grandmother. Beloved daughter of Guido and Maria Greco (predeceased), and loving wife of Joseph Donato (predeceased 1996). Dear sister of Italo (Linda), Fernando (Glauria), Nicoletta (Valentino) and Maria (Victor), and dear sister-in-law of Antoinette Greco (predeceased), and Assunta Greco. Loving mother of Emily Donato (Randy Cavallin), Gino Donato (Lillian), and Marc Donato (Tara). Proud and loving nonna of Julia, Nikolas, Livea, Luella, Nicholas (Chelsea), and Benjamin. Loving aunt to Rita, Gabriella, Sandra, Will, Jean-Paul, Daniel, Stephanie, Mary-Lou, Danny, Robert, Steve, Sylvia, Gloria, Katherine, Kristina, and Stephen.

Friends may gather from 2-5 and 7-9PM on Thursday March 31st with Parish prayers at 3PM.
Funeral Mass at St. Patrick’s Church, 39 Walford Rd., Sudbury, Ontario on Friday April 1st at 11:00AM.
Interment in the Civic Cemetery, Sudbury.
