Gauthier, Jean David
1926-2022
It is with broken hearts that the family of Jean David Gauthier announce his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on April 6, 2022. Born on September 16, 1926 in St. Quentin, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late André and Georgie-Anna (Fournier) Gauthier.
Jean is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Jeannine (Roy) Gauthier and his six children: Christian (Jeannine), Denis (Yvonne), Hélène (Carl) Olsen, Jean-Yves (Linda), Martine (Pierre) Therrien and Danielle (John) Hayward. He is also survived by his fifteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, his sister Jeanne Poirier in Baie-Comeau, Québec and many nieces and nephews. Of the many blessings and gifts that God bestowed upon Jean, he was most thankful for his family.
Besides his parents, Jean was predeceased by his granddaughter Michelle and sixteen siblings.
As a faithful Christian, Jean was a parishioner of St. Rose Church as well as a fourth-degree knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 6770. He had a generous heart and helped many in need. Jean believed in hard work and instilled that work ethic in each of his children. He was a loyal employee of JD Irving Woodlands until his retirement.
Jean was very active and had many interests including knitting, playing cards (especially “Tock”), baking, fishing, hunting, gardening and blueberry picking. His homemade baked bread, blueberry pies and jam-jams delighted family and many friends. He had a good sense of humour; joking and laughing even until the end.
95 years… that is indeed a life well-lived! Until we meet again in God’s heavenly kingdom, we will miss you dearly. Rest in peace. xoxo
Arrangements are entrusted to Résidence Funéraire Valcourt in St. Quentin, New Brunswick. In keeping with the family’s wishes, visitation on April 12, 2022 at 1pm will be limited to family only. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Église du Très St-Sacrement in St. Quentin on April 12, 2022 at 3pm. Masks are mandatory. In lieu of flowers, donations to Bobby’s Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.

Les funérailles de M. Jean David Gauthier auront lieu à 15h, mardi le 12 avril 2022 en l’Église du Très St-Sacrement de Saint-Quentin, avec l’inhumation au cimetière paroissial.
La famille recevra les témoignages de sympathie à compter de 13h mardi, à la Résidence Funéraire Valcourt du 254, rue Canada à Saint-Quentin. Selon les désirs de la famille, les visites seront limitées à la famille uniquement et le port du masque sera obligatoire.
