Obituary
It is with profound sadness that the family of Gary Vincent Mossman announce his passing on Tuesday, March 8th at Carleton Manor in Woodstock, N.B. Gary was 76 and passed peacefully in his sleep surrounded by loved ones.
Gary was born on January 5th, 1946, and was raised in the picturesque community of LeHave, located on the south shore of Nova Scotia. Many fond memories were made growing up along the LaHave River where he attended LaHave School and later Hebbville Consolidated High. Gary was a social student who excelled at sports and loved being involved. At the age of 19, he moved to Fredericton New Brunswick where he started tinkering with watches and clocks in his spare time. While working at a bible bookstore, Gary opened his own little side store selling clocks, watches and jewellery as well as did repair work. He eventually bought out the building and the bookstore and Mossman’s Jewellery was born. It was in Fredericton where he met and married his first wife and together they had three children who they raised in a strong Christian home. Gary went on to marry again in 2017 to Brenda who was his faithful wife until his passing. Together they travelled the Maritimes and enjoyed retirement to its fullest.
Gary was a very vivacious man who loved life! Nothing made him happier then to be surrounded by family and good food. He loved to travel and family trips took him all over North America. His children have fond memories of him letting go and relaxing while on vacation as the jewellery store became successful and grew. He enjoyed collecting coins, tinkering with a ‘wheeler’, going to the dances and the theater. In later years, his trips to Cuba with Brenda were very special for him. As he aged, he enjoyed the stock car races more and more and traveled to Speed Weekends with his trailer, his kitty and his best girl.
Nick-named ‘G-Force’ by his children, Gary loved sports and was a force to be reckoned with on any court! He enjoyed being active and usually had a project or two on the go. Eating out was definitely a highlight and seafood or a big steak was always on the menu. A life-long love affair with grapes, peanuts and diet pop was a priority of his with miss-pronouncing common names for things coming in a close second!
Gary’s needs were simple as he was happiest when in the car going for a meal with the people he loved.
Gary is survived by this wife, Brenda (White); his sons David (Kimberley) and Marcus (Lucie); his daughter Tanya (Michael); his stepson Bill McCoullough; grandchildren Natasha, Cody, Samantha, Taylor, Ceywanna, Cyndi, Alicia, Grace, Maxwell, Acadia and Archie; great-grandchildren Axel, Lily, Annette and Liam; brothers Daryll (Cathy) and Dwight (Daniel); step-sisters Eroll and Anne. Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Seretha; his step-father Harold; his surrogate parents, John and Elaine Currie; his step-brother Wesley; numerous aunts, uncle’s cousins and loved ones.
Gary was predeceased by his parents Vincent and Saretha (Bakker) Mossman and his mother in Law, Muriel White.
An informal celebration of life event will be held on Saturday, March 19th from 2:00 – 4:00 at the Corbett Avenue Wesleyan Church. All well-wishers welcome! In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick or the Carleton Manor Nursing Home in Woodstock, N.B. are greatly appreciated.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road, Jacksonville NB E7M 3S5
