Gary’s Obituary
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of a great man, Gary “Stoney” Curtis. He passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family on July 10th,2022 at The Corner Brook Long Term Care at the age of 66 years.
Leaving to mourn with heartfelt and loving memories are his children; Tanya, Gary jr. (Nikkita) and John (Natalie). His special companion; Laura Rubia. Grandchildren; Rylan, Kaleb, Cohen, Zephlyn, kehlan, Brooklynn, Brea and Amber. His siblings; John (Helen), Jean (Lawrence), Dennis, William (Myra), Francis (Lorna), Michael (Rhoda), Linda, Clifford, Sean and Brian. Nieces and nephews; Edward, Nicole, Dion, Liana, Suzanne, Michelle, Brenda, Connie, Stephen, Melissa, Peter, Chad, Corey, Rachel and Jenna. His uncle Richard (Sybil) O’ Driscoll. As well as many other family members and friends. Gary was predeceased by his parents; Theresa Marie Curtis (nee O’Driscoll) and Francis ‘Frank” Joseph Curtis, his sister; Louise Gordon, brother; Robert “Bob” Curtis, baby siblings; Peter and Mary Ann, brothers-in-law; Gerald “Brud” Gordon and Winston “Wince” Vatcher, nephew; Lyndon “Lyn” Young and his beloved dog, Roxy.
Gary grew up in Deer Lake and was well known as a hard worker in all that he did. He helped anyone he could in any way he could. He was known for his charity work with fundraisers to help people in need. He was also known for his help with local political campaigns and politicians. He will certainly be remembered for helping out at Colemans parking lot during Christmas season. As well as being out for his walks with his little dog, Roxy. His grandchildren were the loves of his life but he was especially proud of his first born grandson, Rylan “Pop’s boy” whom he spent most of his time with as Rylan grew up.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Parsons Funeral Home on Tuesday July 12th,2022 from the hours of 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at The Immaculate Conception Parish, Deer Lake on Wednesday July 13th, 2022 at 11am with Father Anthony officiating, internment will follow at the Roman Catholic section of the Deer Lake Interdenominational cemetery on Wights Rd. In lieu of Flowers his children are asking for donations to help with the funeral cost for their father. Donations can be emailed to Tanya at ocean_newf@hotmail.com
