Gary Peters August 16 2022

On Tuesday August 16th, 2022, Mr. Gary Peters of Chatham passed away at the age of 3 (3²+2)+ 3×13 – √144 + 4²+ (2³-1) at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Cherished son of the late Dayton and Ann Peters. Beloved husband of 58 years to Sharon Peters (Stevenson). Loving father of Shannon Sasseville (Alain) of Chatham and Rhonda McKeever (Mark Copley) of Chatham. Proud grandpa of Genevieve and Gabriel. Dear brother of Janis Peters of Toronto and uncle to Erin and Kailee. Predeceased by his brothers Ron and Wayne and is survived by his aunt Carol Carson of Chatham. Predeceased by his loving dogs Shaymus and Mitzi.
Gary was known for his green thumb, dry wit, and remarkable mathematical mind. He is remembered for having impacted the lives of countless students over his forty-plus years teaching math at Chatham Collegiate Institute, Tecumseh High School, and John McGregor Secondary School and for serving as the Head Math for most of his career. Gary’s passing is the sum of a lifetime of experiences, and like π (Pi), the memory of him will carry on.
Cremation will take place. Family and friends are invited to a graveside service on Saturday September 10th at 11 am at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. Family and friends are asked to gather at the funeral home at 10:30 am and proceed to Maple Leaf Cemetery for 11 am.
Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider Sprucedale United Church.
