Gary Alan
Blakeney – 69, Valley,
passed away peacefully on Friday, July 29, 2022, at Colchester East
Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, he was a son of the late
George and Dorothy (Bilby) Blakeney.
Gary spent many years with MT&T/Bell Aliant until his
retirement in 2004. Most recently, he could be found traveling with
Sandra, making wine, watching the races in the garage or telling jokes
to anyone who would listen! He lived life to the fullest and would
encourage us all to do the same.
Gary is survived by his partner, Sandra McCully, Valley;
children, Heather Blakeney (Jacob Lamontagne), Edmonton, Alberta, and
Michael Blakeney, Truro, and their mother, Anne (Langille) Blakeney,
Bible Hill; sister, Donna (Larry) McNutt, North River; many nieces and
nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where a celebration of
Gary’s life will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, August 13,
2022, Reverend April Hart officiating. Interment in Terrace Hill
Cemetery, Kaulback Street, Truro.
Wake will be held from 4-6 p.m., at Valley Kemptown Fire
Hall, 1091 Brookside Road, Valley, and all are welcome to come and
continue sharing their memories and stories about Gary with his
family.

Colchester SPCA are welcomed. Private messages of condolence may be
