OLIVER, Gary Thomas (October 29, 1954 – July 8, 2022) – It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Garry Thomas Oliver passed away on Friday, July 8th, 2022 in the presence of his loving family and friends.
Predeceased by his loving wife of 44 years, Patricia “Patsy” Oliver (nee Fifield); parents: Loretta and Tom; sisters: Charlotte and Laura.
He leaves to mourn daughter Gail; sons: Gary (Stephanie) and Kevin; grandchildren: Bradley, Devon, Matthew, Chloe, Neveah and Kaleb; brothers: Rudy (Florence) and Ernie (Betty); sister, Madonna; brothers-in-law: Matthew (Christine) and Brian (Valerie); and sisters-in-law: Gail (Jim), Barbara, Debbie (Ed), Karen (Gord). He also leaves behind a large circle of extended family and many friends – including his dearest friend and sidekick Charlie Warren, and friends: Norman Walsh, Kenny, Edgar, Carol Ann, Sean and Audrey.
We have many fond and loving memories of waking up on Sunday morning to dad entertaining the neighbourhood to the magical sound of his accordion and the stomping foot that went with it. He was a kind and gentle soul who touched the lives of many. Special thanks to the nurses and staff at the Kidney Dialysis Unit, the Go Bus drivers, Health Sciences Emergency staff, and CCU nurses, who were so compassionate and took such good care of him.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from Caul’s Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road, on Tuesday, July 12, from 11am-9pm.
As expressions of sympathy, donations in Garry’s memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation, NL Chapter.
