It is with great sadness that the family of Garry Happy announce his passing on Thursday, May 19th, 2022, at the age 73. After a courageous battle with cancer, he passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Stratford General Hospital. Garry was born in Goderich and was the son of the late Joseph and Mabel (Dybvig) Happy.
Garry was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Garry is survived by his children Sarah (Scott), Laura (Ashley), Joe (Jenessa); grandchildren Alyssa, Keara (Mitch), Joseph, Jadyn; sister and best friend Sherry LeSouder, nephews Matt and Sean; brother-in-law Mike Attridge, loving cousins, and a multitude of friends. Predeceased by his cherished sister, Donna Attridge.
As a father and grandfather, he was a source of laughter, support, and unconditional love. If he was not coaching, he was actively participating as their number one fan.
Garry welcomed porch visits from his friends, family, and neighbours where he would entertain with stories and jokes while enjoying a Crystal. He played fastball into his 60’s where he fostered many lifelong relationships.
Garry’s reputation, vision, and craftsmanship in his trade of sheet metal and custom metal work were second to none. It did not stop there as he welcomed the challenge to help his family and friends with custom carpentry work and renovations. His attention to detail in every aspect of life was unrivaled.
The family would like to thank Dr. MacDonald, the staff at the Stratford General Hospital, the London Health Sciences Centre and Care Partners of Stratford for their support and care.
A celebration of Garry’s life will be held at the Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans Hall, 151 Lorne Avenue East, Stratford on Friday, June 24, from 4-8 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Stratford Perth Humane Society or the Canadian Cancer Society through the W.G.
