Garey George Smith 1946 2022

It is with deep sadness we announce the
passing of Garey George Smith, age 76, of
New Glasgow. Garey passed away at the Aberdeen Regional
Hospital, New Glasgow, on Sunday, February 27, 2022.
Born in New Glasgow, NS, he was a son of
the late Percy and Beulah (Mattinson) Smith.
Garey spent his childhood in Stellarton
NS and at the age of 17 joined the Canadian Armed Forces and served at
many army & air force bases across Canada, retiring from the
Canadian Armed Forces after 20 years. He then returned home
to Pictou County where he worked for the Chignecto Central Regional
School Board for 23 Years before retiring.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of
54 years, Rosalind, New Glasgow; sons Garry (Christine) Ottawa ON and
Bryan, Burnaby BC; grandaughters Kyra & Alexa,
Kingston ON; and sister Marilyn, Toronto ON.
He was predeceased by his parents and
nephew Mark Woodrow.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
W. Allen Funeral Home, 60 Water St.,
Oxford, NS (902-447-2167). Cremation has taken
place. A committal service will be held for his family in
the summer at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Garey can be made
to the Parkinson’s Society, Canadian Cancer Society and Aberdeen
Palliative Care.
