Gale Hanson
September 27, 1936 — July 22, 2022
Pembroke
It is with immense sadness and much love that the family of Gale Louise Hanson (nee Allen) announces her passing on Friday, July 22, 2022 at the Pembroke Regional Hospital. She joins her beloved husband John (Lt-Col. (Ret’d) John Allan Hanson), previously departed in 2019. She will be deeply missed by sons Steven & Paul Mathieu, daughter Melody and son-in-law Karl Theil, as well as grandchildren Morgan, Benjamin (Jaime) and Jonathon (Jamie), numerous nieces, nephews, faithful friend Diane Boisvert and all who have been touched by her generous spirit, inherent kindness, and ever-present sense of humor. Gale was predeceased by parents Christie and Thelma Allen (nee Rycroft), brothers Donald (Helen), Bruce, and Harold, and sisters Eva McPhail (Eric) and Betty Harding (Len).
As a long-time employee of Color Your World, Gale took great joy in helping others with their decorating projects. She was frequently sought out for her guidance and expertise. Her love for music led her to perform with the Pembroke Musical Society, and as a cast member of “New Wrinkles”, a musical revue performed throughout the region to raise money for charity. She loved to travel, finding friends everywhere, including the furry and feathered kind, about whose welfare she cared deeply. Her backyard critters were well fed and welcomed each day by name.
The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the nurses at the Pembroke Regional Hospital for their care and compassion.
A Memorial Service will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 68 Renfrew St., Pembroke, on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. . Arrangements entrusted to Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, Pembroke. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Renfrew County SPCA are appreciated.
