It is with profound sadness that we
announce the passing of Gail Ethel Baker (nee Gorman) on Aug 26, 2022
in Fredericton from cancer.
Daughter of the late Helena and Wilfred
Gorman. Gail now joins her beloved husband James Douglas Baker. She is
survived by daughters Natalie McMurtry and Patricia Goldie (Morgan),
son James Baker (Sarah); grandchildren Thomas, Ella, Kate, and Ian
McMurtry, and Owen and Maggie Goldie, Sister-in-law Elizabeth Doucette
(Des) and Brother-in-law John Baker (Gretchen) including many nieces ,
nephews and close cousins.
A beloved and devoted wife, mother,
grandmother, sister-in-law, auntie, cousin and
friend. She was a truly special person to
so many, in particular to her friends and extended family whom
regularly gathered at the cottage on Oromocto
Lake. Words can’t adequately describe the
influence “Flossie” had on so many; her selfless,
unflappable nature, her generosity and boundless love will be deeply
missed by all.
Gail was born in Fredericton, NB and
lived there most of her life. She attended Teachers
College in Fredericton and taught in Halifax and
Sus. Then she graduated from Mt. St Vincent
University with a Bachelor of Business degree. She
was active in the Fredericton Pony Club and was always a strong
supporter of her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews in all
they aspired to do. Gail and Doug moved to Edmonton
about 15 years ago to help with their grandchildren; attending every
hockey game and always ensured presents were under the tree at
Christmas.
In later years she became an avid
quilter and so looked forward to her Tweedside quilting
retreats.
A private burial will be held on
Wednesday August 31, 2022 at Harvey Cemetery at 10
am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
Hospice House Fredericton, Harvey Community Centre or a charity of
your choice
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Gail Ethel Baker nee Gorman 1947 2022..
