Obituary
On June 22, 2022, we said goodbye to a devoted husband, dad, pop, brother, uncle and friend. Gabe battled his many serious medical conditions with courage and quiet dignity, never one to complain. He showed courage in facing life’s challenges with a smile. Despite everything, he came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
Although our hearts are shattered, we will celebrate his life and find comfort knowing that he is met with love at heaven’s gate by his mom and dad, Patrick and Louisa and his siblings: Anthony, Matilda, Aiden, Hilary, Hubert, Mose and Evelyn.
This gentle, loving, caring and wonderful man has etched a permanent mark on our hearts and will be missed immensely by the love of his life and best friend of 55 years Helena “Lene” (nee Meehan), his cherished children Curtis (Sylvia) and Uriel (Nick) and the joys of his life, his 3 grandchildren: Patrick, Lucas and Avery – “Pop Critch” will forever be in their hearts. Also mourning are his loving siblings, his sister Mary Ellen Tobin, and brothers Felix (Mary) and Arnold (Lidwina) and his many nieces and nephews who were all special to him. Gabe will also be missed by his many shed buddies, as well as his extended family and friends.
We would like to thank the health care professionals from Mount Pearl Square Dialysis Unit for their care and compassion over the past 2 years. A special thank you to Dr. Thomas McGarry for his years of dedicated care and his many home visits. We are sincerely grateful to the wonderful staff at Health Science – Unit 4SB, who comforted and cared for Gabe in his final days.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Gabe’s life to be held at a later date. Flowers gratefully accepted, or donations may be made to Good Sheppard Parish.
