Fred Simms
July 31, 1941 – February 17, 2022
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Fred Simms announces his sudden passing at his home in Burgeo on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at the age of 80 years. Born on Pass Island, Fred was the son of John and Ethel (Rose) Simms. He leaves to mourn with precious memoires his beloved fur companions Misty and Lexie; sons Fred (Andrea), George (Gail), Graham (Karen); daughter Christa (Junior); grandchildren Victoria, Jessica, Jodi, Rebecca, Nicholas, Cameron, Sarah, Ryan; great grandchildren: Noah, Nathan, Roy, Selina, Hudson and Amira; brothers Huber and Allan; sisters, Shirley, Kathleen and Marie.
Fred was predeceased by his wife Roberta (Hepditch), parents John and Ethel Simms; brothers Johnny; sisters, Elizabeth, Susan and Dorothy.
Fred was proud of his successful teaching and administrative career and was an upstanding pillar in the local community. He enjoyed family time, spending time outdoors, playing his accordion and would tell his famous jokes to get a smile on one’s face. We were so very lucky to have made so many wonderful memoires with him. To know him was to truly love him. He will be greatly missed by the many lives he touched. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 20th at 2:00 P.M. at St. Thomas Anglican Church, English Harbor West with Rev. Tryphena Vallis officiating. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery English Harbor West.
