It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frederico Vasco on June 29, 2022.
Fred was the beloved husband of Maria (née Vlah); loving father of Maria (Tom) Prestage, John (Ruth), Paul (Carolyn) and stepson Guido (Tracy) Madrusan; cherished Grandpa/Nonno of Renee, Shawna, Derek, Ashley, Justin, Jordan, Katelyn; ten beautiful great-grandchildren; favourite Zio to many.
Predeceased by his parents Giovanni and Maria (née Posa); siblings Vincenzo, Antoinette Stramaglia, Leonardo, Giuseppe, Angela Mignano and Tony. Survived by brother Michele.
In 1955, Fred immigrated from Bari, Italy to start a new life for his family in Canada. A dedicated family man, nothing made him happier than being surrounded by loved ones. He was an avid fan of his favourite Montreal Canadians, enjoyed every televised soccer or wrestling match, and faithfully cheered on his grandchildren at all sports they played.
Fred was a hardworking, sweet, gentle man who will be forever remembered for his kindness, his quiet loving manner, for being appreciative of the simple things, and for the way his face lit up around the grandchildren! His proud Italian roots were evident in his original English translations, which always made us laugh.
He leaves behind a legacy of beautiful memories, and for almost 95 years, the world was a better place for all who knew him.
Resting at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas St. N, Cambridge where family and friends will be received on Monday July 4, 2022 from 5-9p.m.
