Frederick Wesley Fred Falconer 19342022

Frederick Wesley “Fred” Falconer
1934-2022
Frederick Wesley “Fred” Falconer – 87, of New
Minas, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 in the Valley Regional
Hospital, Kentville. Born in Eureka on June 18, 1934, he was a son of
the late Frederick and Isabell “Bell” (Gillespie) Falconer.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and
friend, who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Fred
was a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, serving throughout
New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, retiring as
Staff Sergeant of the Dartmouth Detachment with 25 years of service.
Together with his wife Geraldine, Fred became part of the Tim Hortons
family in April of 1981, opening a store on Commercial Street in New
Minas and expanding to six stores throughout the Annapolis Valley.
Fred served on the Advisory Board for Tim Hortons and was an active
member in the United Church of Canada in every community he was posted
to, including being a Charter Member of New Minas United Church (now
known as Orchard Valley United Church). He was also a member of the
Rotary Club of Kentville, where he was honoured to have been a Paul
Harris Fellow; the RCMP Valley Veterans Association and the Probus
Club of Annapolis Valley. The Falconer family was thrilled to be able
to celebrate their 30 years in the Tim Hortons family by donating
$10,000.00 to each the Fundy Inter Church Food Bank, the Valley
Regional Hospital Foundation and the Rotary Clubs of Kings County
Charitable Foundation. In 2001 they received the Nova Scotia
Provincial Volunteer of the Week Award for “Building a Healthier
Future”. After retirement, Fred and Gerry enjoyed traveling by
RV, usually with their friends, the late George and Bev Shaw. They
traveled to San Diego, Florida, Alaska and all points in between. They
also enjoyed three cruises, toured most of Europe, Australia, New
Zealand and China. Fred loved his music and once he discovered
wireless speakers, their house was always filled with music (which the
kids and grandkids have continued to turn on every day). Fred is
survived by his wife, best friend and business partner, Geraldine
“Gerry” (Beairsto); sons, Fred, Coldbrook; Les (Jennifer),
Kentville; David (Linda), Southampton, ON; daughter, Cyndi (Dave
Mason), New Minas; daughter-in-law, Debbie Falconer, Coldbrook;
grandchildren, Jack Falconer, Nick McQuade, Ali (McQuade) Dillman,
Jade and Madison Falconer, Tyler and Chantal Mason; great
grandchildren Molly McQuade and Payton Dillman; many nieces and
nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister,
Laureen Tye. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr.
Rob Gunn for over 41 years of great care and unsolicited humor, to the
Valley Regional Hospital who did everything to make Fred and his
family comfortable with all the difficult restrictions in place. A
special thank you to our amazing family from coast to coast in Canada,
the United States and to our very special friends and incredible
neighbors. Cremation has taken place. The funeral service and
reception will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022 in the
White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Donations in memory may be made
to Rotary Clubs of Kings County Charitable Foundation, Orchard Valley
United Church – Building Fund or to a charity of your
choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family
Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. Online condolences and
