MOLSON, Frederick Walter Raymond “Fred” – Very peacefully at home with his wife, children and grandchildren at his side, while watching the hockey game on Saturday, January 8th, 2022 at the age of 87 years. Fred “The King of the Hill“ Molson of Petawawa, beloved husband of Edna for 56 years. Loving father of Brian, Tanya (Gerard) and Karen (Fred). Caring grandpa to David (Suzanne), Madeleine, Malcolm, Zoë and Elizabeth. Caring great grandpa to Lucas and Lily. Predeceased by parents Reinhold and Selma Molson (nee Sack), his brother Leslie and his sisters Leila and Eleanor. Survived by sister Margaret, by niece Brenda Black, by nephew Bob Molson, by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Born, raised and lived his entire life in Petawawa. He was proud to play as goalie for the Pembroke Little Lumberkings growing up. Fred worked at AECL for 42 years, during this time he introduced thousands of children and adults to alpine skiing in Deep River and Petawawa. He was the General Manager at Mount Martin Ski Club for 27 years and he was the founder of the Petawawa Skie Club in 1961, which ran for 59 years. Among many other awards for his countless hours of service to Petawawa, we was proud to be inducted in the the Petawawa Sport and Entertainment Hall of fame in 2018 as a builder. He was known to be quiet and hardworking , with a great sense of humour and endless patience. It was Fred’s dream decades ago to open an ice cream shop at the hill, which was finally realized this past summer with the opening og the Mount Molson Dairy Bar. In his own words, Fred spent his lifetime “making a mountain out of a molehill”. Respecting Fred’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Petawawa on Saturday, January 15th, 2022 at 11 a.m., followed by cremation. DUE TO THE CURRENT RESTRICTIONS REGARDING COVID – FACE MASKS/COVERINGS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND THE MASS. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
