Fred (Rocky) Howard Wry
1937-2022
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our
Dad Fred Wry Sr. after a brief illness. Dad passed away at
The Moncton Hospital on February 2, 2022. Dad was born in
Sackville, NB. He was the son of the late George and
Margaret (Cook) Wry.
He is survived by “His Girls” Susan (Danny) Barnes
and Nancy (Rob) Mazerolle, his sister Linda Wry (Danny) and his sister
in law Betty (late Bob) Wry, grandchildren Jason (Carole) Gillespie,
Emily (Adam) MacLennan, his great grandchildren Carter and Ashton
Gillespie and Ava MacLennan as well as several nieces and
nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife
Shirley (Parlee) Wry and his precious son Freddy Wry Jr. He
was also predeceased by his sister Dora (Bob) O’Brian and
his brother Bob Wry.
Dad was employed with CN for over 30 years. His
greatest love and passion after his family was playing hockey
throughout his younger years and watching hockey on TV in his later
years, on Hockey Night in Canada. Dad was very athletic and
proudly played hockey with “The Moncton Hawkes”, Maritime
Senior Hockey League, in the 1960’s and
1970’s. That persona stayed with him throughout
his lifetime.
Our family would like to thank his caregivers Dallas and
Chester for their wonderful care and kindness that they have given him
over the years and also to Extra Mural, for caring for Dad over the
past year.
Words cannot express how grateful we are to Dr. Leonard and
all the nurses, who gave Dad exceptional care and compassion, while he
was at The Moncton Hospital.
Cremation has taken place at Cobb’s Funeral Home
and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007) and a
graveside service will take place for immediate family at a later
date. Donations in memory of Dad may be made to the Muscular
Dystrophy Association or a charity of choice. Online
