Obituary
Fred Martin, born in Meanook, AB on April 30th, 1935, passed away peacefully on August 24th,2022. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Frederick Sydney Martin was the fourth and youngest child born to Guy and Vida Martin. He married the love of his life, Elsie Katona, on June 17th, 1961. They went on to have four children, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. They made their life and living in Athabasca, the community that they loved.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Elsie Martin, and his sister Pearl Day. He also leaves behind his children: Kim (Cecilia), Marj (Jeff), Brenda (Rob), and Trevor (Roxie); his cherished grandchildren: Brandan (Anita), Stephanie (Haydon), Joel (Jasmine), Brett (Ashley), Karlee (Jesse), Maegan, Paige, Mark (Danikah), and Kelsie (Mike); and his precious great-grandchildren: Aidan, Joy, and Parker.
He was predeceased by his parents Guy and Vida; and his brothers Clarence and Dave.
A private family service was held at the Athabasca Community Chapel on August 29th, 2022.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pleasant Valley Lodge Fundraising Club in Fred’s memory.
