Frank Wowchuk
November 22, 1932 – June 13, 2022
Frank Wowchuk passed away suddenly at the Georgetown Hospital on June 13, 2022 at the age of 89.
Survived by his brother Michael Kostiuk and his sister in law Edith Kostiuk. Also survived by his nephews and niece, Andy Kostiuk, Alan Kostiuk (Sue), Teresa Dicks, Peter Kostiuk (Patricia). As well as survived by 16 great nieces and nephews and 17 great great nieces and nephews.
Frank is predeceased by his brothers Morris Kostiuk (2001), Mike Wowchuk (1943), Paul Wowchuk (1980) and sister Toni (1999). He will be greatly missed by many personal friends including Karen and Ken Stringer, Marlene and Mary Vivian.
Frank was born on the family farm in Cowan, Manitoba and his father passed away when Frank was only 5 years old. Frank grew up working in his mother’s general store in Matlock, Manitoba followed by working in hotels in Rainy River, Ontario and later Nipawin, Saskatchewan. Frank and his brother Morris and their mother Katherine then moved to Toronto and they lived on Weston Rd for many years with Frank looking after his mother until she passed away. Frank designed and built a custom high-tech home in Georgetown where he has lived since 1995.
Frank excelled as a student at Danforth Technical School, Manitoba Commercial College, Radio College of Canada and Ryerson Institute of Technology.
Frank was employed by Bell Canada for 32 years working in the Central Office in Toronto retiring in 1987. The Bell colleagues he worked with were long lasting friends. Frank was very gifted at listening to a friend’s problem and subsequently an idea for a solution would emerge. Not only being gifted he was also a deeply connected personal friend to those he continued to share his journey of life with.
Visitation will be held at the Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown, Ontario at 1PM on Tuesday June 21, 2022, with a funeral service at 2PM followed by a reception. The service will also be live streamed for those unable to attend. Interment at will take place at the Greenwood Cemetery in Georgetown at a later date.
