Franklin John Hunt Friday January 28th 2022

Frank passed away peacefully at the St. Boniface hospital after an evening of storytelling amid tears and laughter with his family surrounding him.
Born in Hamilton to Frank Sr. and Viola Hunt, Frank lived there, where he was proud to be a firefighter, until 1977 when he moved to Winnipeg.
Frank is survived by his devoted wife Evelyn, brother Fred Hunt, five children Frank (Darlene) Hunt, Cindy (Bob) Chisholm, Michael (Milly) Hunt, Brad Hunt (Jenn Savage) and Jackie Hunt (David Fehr) Grandchildren Samantha, Kristen, Cody, Cameron, Ryan, Sadie, and Abi.
He was a great father to all of us and always supported us in whatever we chose to do. He didn’t officially have a favorite, but we all know the baby was probably #1. He was very close to his brother Fred who was able to speak to him by phone near the end and you could see his expression change when he heard Fred’s voice.
Frank loved his sports and in particular his favorite team the Hamilton Tiger Cats and he could often be heard yelling Oskie Wee Wee. He also loved the Jets, Blue Jays and Raptors. You could not talk to him on game day because he liked to tape the games and watch them later with no commercials and if you would dare to tell him the score it would not be pretty. His favorite time of the year was Christmas and boy could he decorate. He made beautiful, handcrafted ornaments to decorate with, and as gifts for others.
We would like to thank the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for their wonderful care over the years, especially the nurses who were always so amazing with him. We would like to give a special shout out to his favourite nurse Doris. Even after she left the department, he still talked about her. Dr. Verelli took such good care of him, along with all the other healthcare professionals who continually made sure his medical needs were met year after year. But most of all, we want to thank his wife Evelyn who has been by our dad’s side for the last 35 years through all the good times and the health issues. We do not think anyone could love someone more than she loved our dad.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced.

  1. So sorry for your loss. I have great memories of Frank playing with us when we were young. Distance may have kept us apart but memories are always there. It would be nice to reminisce with cousin Fred one day.
