Frank Troppmann, beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather passed away on March 12th, 2022 having lived an impressive 84 years. Frank was born in Blumental, a German village in the Ukraine, on August 28th, 1937.
Frank was a man admired by many and loved by all. The echo of his loss reverberates through his loved ones, friends, neighbours, and community members. His unflappable charisma touched the hearts of everyone he met.
Frank was predeceased by his parents, Adolf and Ida; third son, Randall; and Ida, his wife of nearly 60 years. He is survived by his three younger siblings: Lena, Anna, and Al; sons: Daniel (Bonnie), Robert (Deborah), and Steven (Laurie); daughter-in-law, Kathleen; and seven grandchildren: Matthew, Cameron, Tabea, Abigail, Daniel, Marlaina, and Nolin.
He enjoyed a long career as a carpenter, master craftsman, business owner, apartment owner, and sign salesman before retirement. In his later years, a school was being built across from his home, and he was known to sit on his front lawn in a camping chair to supervise the project progress.
After retiring, Frank, with help from his brother Al, spent the better part of twenty years tracking the Troppmann lineage back to the early 1630’s. With nearly 700 pages, the Troppmann Track was his passion project turned family heirloom. It was Frank’s mission to provide his descendants a primary reference source to learn about their ancestors and heritage, with the hope that it will continue to expand as a living chronicle of the Troppmann line. His legacy will endure and be passed down for generations to come.
Ever the consummate host, Frank could be seen holding court wherever he went: Tim Hortons on a Sunday, ice cream in the courtyard with his fellow retirees at Chartwell Emerald Hills, and most importantly, hosting many gatherings as the patriarch of his family.
He was a good man who lived a long, fruitful life filled with hard work, kindness, and laughter. He will be missed dearly.
A Celebration of Frank’s Life will take place on May 21st, 2022. Interment will take place at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, open to anyone who wants to attend (will be outside). The Celebration of Life will take at 1:00 at the Beverly Heights Community League Hall. The Eulogy will be read at 1:30 with lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in Frank’s honour to a charity of your choice.
