Frank Jr. Vesely
October 23, 1935 – February 1, 2022
Frank Vesely Jr. of Wetaskiwin Alberta, passed away peacefully at his home in the Sagebrush Community of natural causes on February 1, 2022 at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife Berty-Lynn Vesely of Camrose, his older sister Mary Lyle of Wetaskiwin, and his sons, Curtis Vesely of Gwynne, Dwayne (Bernie) Vesely of Perth, Australia, and Douglas (Deb) Vesely of Red Deer, step-daughters Shelley Stroyan of Rimbey, and Shawna Vandenbrink of Beaumont, and brother-in-law Terry Stanvick of Camrose . Frank also leaves to mourn his grandchildren, Samuel Vesely, Allison Vesely, and Maxwell Vesely, and Sarah Stroyan, three great-grandchildren, Hunter, Wednesday and Jayda Stroyan, nieces Beverly (Ken) Hill and Judy (Gary) Hunsley, and nephew Warren (Penny) Lyle, and many cousins and extended family in the Czech Republic. Frank was predeceased by his first wife Ruby Vesely, his parents Frank Sr. and Heda Vesely, and brother-in-law Reg Lyle, granddaughter Jenna-Lynn Stroyan, and son-in-law Rick Stroyan.
Frank was born in south-central Alberta and moved to Gwynne, Alberta with his family at an early age. He spent a lifetime working and expanding the large family farm, which he viewed as his most outstanding accomplishment. Frank was married to his first wife Ruby (Nelson) in 1962 in a double ceremony with her twin sister Isabel and his life-long friend, Norman Dumkee. Ruby and Frank had three sons during their twenty-three-year marriage, however life became more difficult when Ruby was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and passed away in 1985. Frank married Berty-Lynn (Vandenbrink) on July 16, 1988 and together they enjoyed dancing, fishing, cards and were able to enjoy some travelling, including a trip to Australia to see his son, and trips to the Czech Republic to re-connect with extended family and to Ireland to attend his son’s wedding. As a staple in the community, he would attend many community events, socials and dances and he loved playing softball with his neighbours. He was an excellent dancer, and lover of fishing, camping, playing/winning at crib, and watching sports and hunting shows. However, Frank’s greatest joy were his grandchildren. A celebration of Frank’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the Wetaskiwin Senior Centre, by invitation to accommodate current health restrictions. A recording of the service will also be available after the service.
