François Beaumont
1970-2022
On August 16th, 2022 we said our final goodbye to our amazing love.
François died peacefully at La Maison Saint Raphaël, surrounded by his family and enveloped by love and laughter as we shared stories from years past. They say that you choose the moment that you finally let go. François chose his last moment in the same spirit that he lived: always ensuring that the people around him were comfortable, happy, and well taken care of. It’s the type of man he always was.
Born in Sorel, François moved to Montreal, where he graduated from Polytechnique in Physics Engineering. His priorities in these years were simple: studying, friends, and the gym. He began his career in aerospace at CAE where he spent 15 years working on aircraft simulation and certification, travelling the world, and playing pranks on his colleagues. In 2010, he made his final career move into avionics at Collins Aerospace.
Although he loved his job, François always said that he worked to live… and not the other way around. He embraced this philosophy in everything that he did. When he was younger, he turned to nature: white water canoeing, sailing, and later, rock-climbing. He bought his first Harley Davidson Softail in 1997 and spent countless weeks travelling with friends to the most beautiful parts of Canada.
Once he married and had his son, Antoni and his daughter, Ania, family became his priority. He coached the kids’ hockey teams and spent weekends adventuring in Montreal and its outskirts. In spite of the craziness, he always made time for Friday night 5 à 7 chats and snuggles with his love.
When he was first diagnosed and still in hospital, he and Monika jumped on the opportunity to buy a cottage, which ultimately became their Happy Place. Covid (although so difficult for many) was a blessing. They spent precious time at the cottage as a family, building memories that will last a lifetime.
François never let his disease hold him back. He continued to persevere in everything that he did, right up until his last days. Despite the hardships, François’s strong will to live, unwavering love for his family, and a long to-do list of cottage renos carried him through.
He leaves behind his wife and soul mate Monika Dygut, his adored children Antoni and Ania, as well as his mother Nicole (née Tremblay), siblings Nathalie (François Nadeau) and Louis, nephew Jérémie and nieces Laurie and Marie-Philippe. François was preceded in death by his loving father, Marius.
A special thanks and deep appreciation to the entire medical team at the Jewish General Hospital, but especially Dr Kavan, Dr Boutros, Joussy Mikhail and Natalie Leon.
Thank you to the staff and volunteers at La Maison Saint Raphaël for your compassion and care for the entire family in François’s last days.
Our beloved François will be profoundly missed by Iza and Wojtek Dygut, his family and friends, colleagues, neighbours, his extended Polish family, girls whose hearts he broke, and everyone who was lucky enough to have crossed his path. While our loss is immeasurable, so is the love that he left behind.
A celebration to honour François will be held in November.
