Francis Lowther 19382022

Francis Lowther
1938-2022
On February 3rd, 2022 Francis passed at the age of
84 at the Moncton Hospital. We were very fortunate to be able to visit
and spend time with him before his passing. Born on February
1st, 1938, in Springhill, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late
Robbie and Isabelle (Carter) Lowther of Oxford, formally of East
Leicester.
Francis worked from afar, traveling back and forth
between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, until he met Jean and they
settled down together in Colpitts Settlement, NB. Francis
worked his whole life for his family; from cutting lumber, making hay,
and raising cattle and chickens. He worked for Modern Construction in
Nova Scotia, and continued with Modern in NB until working for John
Dysart Construction until retirement, which he remained friends with
until his passing. He was a heavy equipment operator, paved and graded
roads all over Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
He taught briefly at Versatile Training for young
people to become heavy equipment operators during his retirement. He
was amazing at fixing anything and was able to turn anything into
something that worked.
He was a gentleman, sincere, funny and a true
family man. He told the best stories and always made us laugh. He
would help anyone at any time; he was a gentle, kind
soul.
Francis enjoyed the last five years with his best
friend, Loretta. Together, they shared morning coffee
gatherings with friends, nights dancing and spent days on road
trips. Loretta renewed the spark in our Dad’s life; they
made many cherished memories together. We are forever grateful for the
happiness they shared.
We will forever miss our Dad, sons; Allison
(Debbie), Willard (Daisy), daughter; Amanda (Dwight) and step-son,
Stephen (Donna). He was also loved and considered a Dad to;
Kristen, Tabitha, Donna and many of Susan’s close friends. He was a
Grampie to; Chris, Robert, Cora, Lindsay, Amanda, Catlin, Jonathan and
Rowan. Many stories and memories will be shared with his
great grandchildren, Brodie, Jacob, Skyla and Flora. Francis
will be remembered by his sister Jane in BC, family in the USA and
many nieces and nephews.
Francis was predeceased by his wife of 36 years
Jean (Harrison), his daughter Susan, granddaughter Julia and has
joined his brothers; Harold (Mabel), George (Gwen) and three siblings
lost at infancy.
A celebration of life will be announced in the
Times Transcript, The Chronicle Herald and through social media at a
later date, so ALL who loved Francis can attend. Arrangements are in
the care of Salisbury Funeral Home (506-372-4800). Interment in
Pleasant Vale Cemetery at a later date.
If desired, memorial donations in memory of our
Dad, Francis to the Pleasant Vale Cemetery or the Cemetery in
Leicester, Nova Scotia, for upkeep and improvements, would be
appreciated by the family.
