Frances O’Shea 2022

Frances Hildred O’Shea (Baisley)
1934-2022
Frances Hildred O’Shea (Baisley) of Sunny Corner, NB passed away peacefully at Bridgeview Hall on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at the age of 87.
Born in Wayerton NB, Frances was the daughter of Alexander and Letitia (Mullin) Baisley.
Frances grew up on her parent’s farm in Wayerton with her brothers and sisters. She told us many stories of how her older brothers spoiled her and she was the envy of her girlfriends.
She left home at 14 and worked in retail in Moncton and Ontario and eventually moved back to Newcastle.
While living in Newcastle she met the love of her life, Louis and they married in 1953 and celebrated 66 years together. They raised a large family of 8 children which grew over time with 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Frances was The Boss and had her hands full keeping this large brood in line.
Frances was an avid card player and spent over 50 years playing with her friends in their Card Club and she and Louis spent many nights playing cards with their dear friends. She was a beautiful knitter and kept her family, friends and strangers warm and cozy. She loved puzzles and reading and was a wonderful cook. One of her greatest skills was managing to pull together a meal on Sundays when all the children and grandchildren arrived unannounced, and nobody ever left hungry. She could feed an army with a single pot roast, a bushel of potatoes, and lots of homemade bread.
Louis loved to dance, and Frances was his lifelong dance partner. They loved to go dancing and did so as often as they could. They moved as one and were magic to watch together and we are certain they are very happy to be once again dancing together.
Frances was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to the many lives she touched throughout her life.
Frances was a member of the Island View Senior’s Club, and the St. Thomas CWL.
Frances is survived by six daughters: Marie Pennock, Jane Sweezey (Garth), Clare Hawkes (Joe), Ruth Harris (Peter), Nancy O’Shea, and Connie Doak (Hedley). Two sons: Bernard O’Shea (Bridget) and Thomas O’Shea. Eighteen grandchildren: Lane Pennock, Jared Sweezey, Michael Sweezey, Ellen Sweezey, Brian Hawkes, Patrick Hawkes, Jillian Hawkes, Jadon Harris, Luke Harris, Shea Harris, Brendan O’Shea, Emily Murphy, Pamela O’Shea, Mitchell O’Shea, Corey Doak, Haley Doak, Nolan Doak, Benson Doak. Twelve great grandchildren: James Pennock, Yafreisi Garcia, Starlyn Garcia, Jackson Sweezey, Isaac Sweezey, Skylar Harris, Riley Harris, Lincoln Harris, Piper Murphy, Tristan Kenny, Fiona Doak, Ivy Doak. One brother: Jackson Baisley (Myrtle). Two sisters-in-law: Minnie Baisley and Georgina Baisley.
In addition to her parents, Frances is predeceased by her husband: James “Louis” O’Shea. Three sisters and two brothers: Marguerite Fisher, Maryen Baisley, Alton Baisley, Hiram Baisley, Verna Baisley.
The family gives special thanks to the kind and compassionate staff at Miramichi Senior Citizens/Bridgeview Hall for the care and attention they gave mom over the past two years.
