It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Frances on January 13, 2022 at Westpark Healthcare Centre, Toronto at the age of 93. Predeceased by her loving husband Louis Pogorski and her parents Marie-Anne Girard and Elie Arthur Girard. Devoted mother of Stephen Pogorski (Rima Styra) and Suzanne Pogorski Boland (Bruce Boland). Dear grandmother of Peter Pogorski, Diana Pogorski Wolrige (Ross Wolrige), Emily Boland Slinn (Adam Slinn) and Matthew Boland (Rachel Farquhar). Devoted sister to Bernadette Girard, Gilles Girard (Irène Desroches) and silbling to Paul-Armand Girard (Carmen Lemelin), Charles-Joseph Girard, Marie-Berthe Girard (Sylvio Perron), Ludger Girard (Beatrice Lavoie), Laurent Girard (Renée-Jeanne Girard) and Gabriel Girard (Jean Lemieux). Devoted aunt to Joanne Girard, Édith Girard, Gaétan Girard, Jean-Paul Girard, Marc Girard, Jacques Girard, Christiane Perron, France Perron, André Perron, Diane Girard, Réal Girard, Louise Girard, and Sylvie Girard. She will be remembered by extended family and many friends.
Marie Noella Jeanne Françoise Girard Pogorski better known as Frances was born on August 8, 1928. The number 8 was a lucky number for her. She lived in picturesque Saint-Irénée, Charlevoix on a farm with a house overlooking the St. Lawrence River. She moved to Toronto where she met her husband, Louis. She was married in 1955 and enjoyed 40 years with Louis until he passed away in 1995. When we think back on our childhood we remember a loving home and knowing that our mother would always be there for a hug when we needed it. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and birthdays were a special time in our home when she would decorate our home and make delicious meals. She was well known for the amazing soups and pizza that she made from scratch which her grandchildren loved. She had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with all her grandchildren who had a very close relationship with her. She would play cards and games with them and taught them many things that have helped them with their lives. She has been a big part of our lives and made us feel special. We will sadly miss her but remember her fondly.
