Frances (Fran) Elizabeth Merryweather
1941-2022
Fran Merryweather of Nackawic, NB passed away on November 6, 2022
after a brief illness in the presence of her family at the Saint John
Regional Hospital. She was born on July 23, 1941 in Middle
Musquodoboit, NS.
Fran graduated from UNB with a Physical Education Degree and enjoyed
giving back to her community through her involvement in many sports,
town and church committees. She was an avid gardener, loved quilting,
sewing and knitting. She cherished the thirteen years she spent caring
for her mom. Her home was always open to all the neighbourhood
children who she mothered like her own. Fran was proud of her family
and her heart bloomed when she was around her grandchildren while
supporting all their endeavours.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Danny Merryweather; her
children Derek Merryweather (Julia), Canning, NS, Derron Merryweather
(Cathy), New Maryland, NB, Danielle Taylor (Paul), Dartmouth, NS and
Darcy Merryweather (Margo), Brookfield, NS; grandchildren, Bradley,
Spencer, Annika, Olivia, Emily, Addison, Matthew, Sarah and Peter; her
siblings, John Gladwin (Betty), Carol Hingley (Laurie), Bill Gladwin,
Louise Sabean (Dale) and Charlie Gladwin (Jean); a sister-in-law Anna
Allen (George); several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Fran was predeceased by her parents, Angus and Emma (Dechman)
Gladwin.
Funeral service will be held at the Kirk United Church, 29 Landegger
Drive, Nackawic, NB on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 2 pm with Rev.
Alice Finnamore officiating. A reception will follow in the church
fellowship room, hosted by friends of the Kirk. Interment will be
later at Hillside Cemetery in Middle Musquodoboit, NS.
For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Fran, the family
has suggested the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the
donor’s choice.
