Frances “Bobbie Cross 2022

Obituary
Frances “Bobbie” Cross
1942 – 2022
Frances Elizabeth “Bobbie” Cross, wife of Paul Cross of Miramichi, peacefully passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on August 12, 2022 at the age of 80.
Born in New Waterford, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, on February 25, 1942, she was the daughter of the late John and Marie Leudy.
Bobbie was very proud of being a Coal Miner’s Daughter – a real life New Waterford Girl – and of all things Cape Breton. She loved that her kids made her a grandmother (Nana), and eventually a great-grandmother (G Ma and Nana with the white hair) and with all of those babies, she became particularly adept (well not really) with social media and digital tools to be able to connect with them routinely. She loved frequent and long telephone chats with her family and friends – at least when time permitted between episodes of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, TV bingo and mass for the shut-ins…
Bobbie proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces, a happy outcome of which was meeting the love of her life Paul, to whom she was married for 61 years. In the many years and multiple postings that followed, Bobbie worked in a variety of jobs across the country and around the world. She was also very proud to have been a member of: St. Michael’s Basilica, the Catholic Women’s League of Canada, the Purple Hats, Branch #3 of the Royal Canadian Legion, and most especially the Friday Executive Lunch Club.
Bobbie is survived by her husband, Paul Cross; sons Tony Cross (Laurie) of Penniac, NB and Dyrald Cross (Connie) of Ottawa, ON; daughter Tracey Bickford of Belleville, ON; grandchildren: Tarina Gibbs, Garret Cross, Meghan Cross, Kendra Bickford and Hayden Cross; great-grandchildren: Gage Cross, Joelle Gibbs and Maddox Gibbs; and sister, Patricia MacDonald (Charlie) of New Waterford, NS. She was predeceased by her son Timmy; parents John and Marie; siblings: Jean, Laurie, Carol, Tony, Nita, Johnny, and Bobby; and son-in-law David Bickford.
At the request of the family, there will be no visitation but please do join them at a Mass to be held at St. Michael’s Basilica in Miramichi, NB on Monday, August 15, 2022 at 2 PM and / or at the reception at Legion Branch #3 located at 18 McCurdy Street, Miramichi following the Mass.
The family will join the reception at the Legion following a brief private interment at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Dr. Gerard and Judy Losier Family Foundation at www.losierfoundation.com or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be much appreciated by the family.
Messages of condolence may be sent or delivered to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, telephone (506) 773-3492 or submitted online to www.adamsfh.ca.
