It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Fotios Frank Zikopoulos on Friday, March 11, 2022.
Frank was born June 17, 1934 in Agia Sotira, Kozani, Greece. Son of Demetrios and Panayiota and dear brother of Anastasios, Elaine, Chrisoula, and Vargania (all predeceased). Frank immigrated to Copper Cliff to marry Thomae (nee Zanidiou) in 1964, where they lived and raised their family.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, his son Jimmy, wife Dina, and grandsons Andrew and Franklin.
Frank was a loving brother-in-law to Vanthea (Athanasisos), Morfia (Yannis), Kostindia (Athanasisos) predeceased, Katrina (Sam predeceased), Maria (Timmy), Stella predeceased (Nick). Wonderful Theo to Demetria, Zoe, Vasilios, Angela (predeceased), Tassou, Garifalia (Elias), Steve, Tess (Duncan), Sam predeceased (Mona), Marsha (Peter), Bill, Effie (Niko), Doli, and a Great Theo to many. Also special cousin to Yannis and Georgia Zikopoulos.
In 1964, Frank began his career at the Deluxe on Lorne Street and in 1971 purchased the restaurant, where he had been for the next 56 years. Over those years, together with his family he built an upstanding and respectful business. He always said he was blessed to work with his wife, son, and grandsons. Frank was always grateful for the wonderful staff at Deluxe. This is the place where family and friends not only came to eat but to have a coffee and hang out with Uncle Frank. Uncle Frank never forgot where he came from, and he stayed connected to everyone. He was loving, caring, and had a heart of gold, a man not afraid to show his emotions.
He was a very calm person, and his favourite saying was: “Everything is ok”. He will be sadly missed by his family and will be remembered as a good friend.
The family would like to thank Extendicare York on the 2nd and 5th floors for all their compassion and support.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church would be appreciated.
