Florence’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother, Aunt and friend to many.
Our Mother was born at Carcajou, Alberta September 3, 1932 to James and Adeline Armstrong, she was the youngest of 11 children. At a young age after the passing of her father in 1940, the family moved onto the Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement, this is where she lived the majority of her life, it is where she met and married her husband Albert Wanuch in September 1950, together they raised 4 children: John, Gary, Ray and Debbie.
She worked at various jobs over the years, just to mention a few: Managing a Government Store at both Paddle Prairie and Fishing Lake Metis Settlements, Native Counselling Services of Alberta, and the Government of Alberta…while working she always had a commitment to her home community of Paddle Prairie, it is where she served several years as either the Chairperson or Council Member on the local Council, volunteered many hours and years on the Church Committee and other various organizations.
In her later years Florence moved to St. Albert with her daughter Debbie and family; when she required more extensive care she lived at the Venta Centre in Edmonton where she passed away in the early morning hours of November 11, 2022.
Florence was predeceased by her husband Albert (on August 11, 1990); her parents; 10 brothers and sisters; and, several other family members.
She leaves to mourn her children, John and Jill Gaudet, Gary and Marilyn Gaudet, Ray and Nola Wanuch, Debbie and Brian Callinan, 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.
