Florence Marie Brown
January 22, 1929 – August 14, 2022
For the first time in 34,172 days the sun rose without Florence’s breath. Florence went to join George who has been waiting for her for 17 years. She already has him working on their next project. Dad dreaded and loved the phrase “George, I’ve got an idea”. It always involved either a ladder or a sledgehammer. Usually both.
The most devoted wife, mom and grandma. Her answer was always “Yes, I’m on my way” every time we needed her. Florence’s superpower was her humour. The queen of one liners. She worked her way into people’s hearts with her quiet grace and wit.
She liked to be alone except when the grandkids showed up. They were the light of her life. Grandma to Allyson and Namra to Ethan, Liam and Teagan. They will always remember the trips to the park, McDonalds and the dollar store with Papa and Namra.
We are devastated she is gone but take solace in the fact that she is finally at peace, 93 years is a long shift and now she can rest. I think there is a euchre game about to start with dad, aunt Shirley and uncle Sonny. The moms can finally start their cheating strategy again. Worst cheaters ever. They still lost most of the games.
Forever missed by her 3 children George (Heather), Richard (Dianne d. 2016) and Rebecca Clark (John).
Beloved grandchildren Allyson, Ethan (Jenna), Liam and Teagan.
Many have gone before Florence but left behind are sister Vera Benko,
Sister in law Helen Biro and brother in law and sister in law Herman and Maryellen Brown. A ton of nieces and nephews and even some great and great greats.
There will be a private family burial.
If anyone would like to honour mom, a donation to the humane society or your favourite charity would be appreciated.
Finally, thank you to all the caregivers who took care of mom these last few years. First at St Charles Village and then at Henley House. It has been such a stressful time for caregivers and families and residents but they always gave mom love and care and treated her with dignity. Bless these people.
