It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of our beautiful, beloved mother, Florence Clara Yakimchuck, age 87, on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, she was the daughter of the late Marco and Annie(Cherla) Yakimchuck.
Mom was the last surviving member of her family. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary, Eva, Helen and Ida and brothers, Archie and Roger.
She will be lovingly remembered by her only son, Garfield Yakimchuck, with whom she resided; daughters, Marion (Ahmad) Nakhaie, Mona (Wally) and Wanda (Robert); grandchildren, Troy (Melissa) Mombourquette, Todd (Tayla) Mombourquette, Jeff (Kim) Nakahie, Melanie (Ryan), Courtney (Timmy), Chelsey and Ashley Talbot; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Mom’s greatest joy and love was being with her family. She enjoyed listening to music, reading, cooking, shopping, and home decorating. She also enjoyed working outdoors and took great pride in her many assorted gardens. Mom also enjoyed visiting various yard sales in search of “Hidden Gems”.
The family wishes to send a special thanks to Dr. Mohan and Mabel-Ann Virik; Care Coordinator, Bethany Kemp; Palliative Care, Dr. Ritter; Palliative Care nurses, Leah and Kelly; all VON nursing staff. Also, an extra special thank you to VON nurse, Helen for her kindness and support given to Mom in the final hour. Thank you to the County Home Care Staff, care givers, Tayla and Michelle and the Red Cross.
Also, special thanks to my brother, Garfield and my sister, Mona for the love, dedication and sacrifices they made to enable Mom to stay at home with family and familiar surroundings, helping her live a happier life. For that we are all so grateful to you both.
Mom thank you for being strong for us even in your final hours, that’s so like you to put your family first. Thank you, Mom for the love you gave, the wisdom you shared and all the sacrifices you’ve made for us.
A private graveside service will take place in Eastmount Cemetery, Whitney Pier at a later date.
