Fern Humphrey
Peacefully in Ottawa, May 24, 2022 at the age of 95.
Predeceased by her “darling” husband and soul-mate Douglas Humphrey. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Frances Humphrey (Stan Rowbottom- deceased) and Dr. Susan Humphrey-Murto (Dr. Kimmo Murto), and grandchildren,Tomi and Taija Murto.
“Mimi” was born in Rivière-du-Loup to Joseph and Joséphine Marquis. She grew up in a large tight knit family with an incredible “joie de vivre” and is predeceased by all of her siblings. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
She was an avid gardener with award winning gardens and the strength of ten men despite her petite frame. Her love of fashion was evident in her everyday apparel and made her an outstanding manager at Bella’s Fashion store in Bayshore.
She loved being by the lake and was a passionate grandmother, where she spent countless hours searching for minnows, digging in the sand or making snow tunnels. She was proud of her French-language roots and instilled this in her children and grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered for her larger- than- life personality and warmth and affection. Mimi nous “t’aimons gros comme ça”.
We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the staff at Windsor Park Manor who demonstrated such compassion. A special thank you the nurses who made the journey in the final days bearable.
A small family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
