Fernand Maillet
1945-2022
Fernand Maillet, 77, of Villa Providence, Shediac and formerly of
Moncton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Villa
Providence on Sunday October 9, 2022. He was married to the late
Célina (Richard) Maillet (2007). Born in Rogersville, he was the
son of the late Alphonse and the late Marie (Lavoie) Maillet.
Fernand was a shoemaker by trade and worked at the St. George Shoe
Clinic for many years. He was also very well known for his part in
bluegrass music. He began his bluegrass journey with the Bluegrass 4
and played with several other bands over the years. He was known as a
bass player in the bluegrass scene, but also played fiddle, piano and
guitar. He was the recipient of several Awards in Bluegrass Music. He
enjoyed camping and going to countless bluegrass festivals with family
and friends. He was also one of the founding members of the
Rogersville Bluegrass festival.
He will be sadly missed by his three children; Linda Maillet (Kevin),
Normand (Karla) and Daniel (Dorine) of Moncton and one grandson; Ryan.
He also leaves to mourn his step-mother; Gisèle Maillet of
Moncton, his three sisters; Ella Auffrey (John) of Moncton, Dina
Turcotte (René) of Saint-Quentin, Rina O’Donnell (Greg) of
Lakeville, one brother; Guy (Alice) of Dieppe, and several nephews and
nieces.
Visitations will be held at Maillet Funeral Home, 29 rue de
l’église, Bouctouche on Thursday October 13, 2022 from 2:00
to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at
the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Roman Catholic Church in Bouctouche on Friday
October 14, 2022 at 11:00 am with interment in the
St-Francois-de-Sales, Rogersville cemetery.
FACE MASKS ARE MANDATORY AT THE FUNERAL HOME.
In Fernand’s memory, donations may be made to the NB Diabetes
Association.

Fern was such a kind hearted and gentle soul,who always had a kind smile. Followed Him and His long time friends in the Bluegrass World. Ive never heard anyone in around 45 years say anything bad about Him,which is not to say He was Perfect. So sorry for your loss . Has wonderful children with same Kind spirit as Mom and Dad.
