Fazlullah Roozbeh Rezagian 2022

It is with great heartbreak that we announce the passing of our kind Roozbeh on September 10th, 2022, after a fiercely fought 2-year battle with bladder cancer. He passed peacefully in his own home, held by his wife and daughters. He is survived by his adoring wife, Golnar Karimi, his loving daughters, Kiemia and Ava Rezagian, as well as our extended family and dear friends for who cared for and admired him greatly.
Roozbeh (also known as Faz and Reza) was an honest, principled, and humble man. He was born in Lar, Iran in August 1965. From a young age he was dedicated to helping family—harvesting dates with his grandfather, sewing garments with his mother and selling them in village markets with his father, fetching water from the reservoir, and doing any other job that was asked of him. He had a passion for education and learning his entire life—from his youth he was known for his love of books, even having his own personal stamp for his books which he would lend out to others in his village.
Roozbeh had an innate spirit of service, wanting to dedicate his life to helping others. After his mandatory military service, he worked for the Ministry of Arts and Culture, taking books and films to teach children in rural communities. He then worked to build schools in rural areas before being conscripted to fight in the Iran-Iraq war.
Roozbeh immigrated to Windsor in October 1988—after time in Iraq, Kuwait, and Turkey—where he began his life with his wife and daughters to whom he was entirely devoted. After long days at work, he was never too tired to invent new games to play with his daughters. He would invent games that taught them to be clever, or brave—he always had a life lesson to teach us. When his girls were scared at night, he would always sit by their beds and hold their hands until they fell asleep. He encouraged us to pursue any dream and was always there for a hug when we needed it. He worked tirelessly to provide us with our beautiful life and was the best husband and father we could ask for.
Roozbeh spent 30 years as Taxi Driver (#88) with Vets Cab where he was known for his quiet nature and friendly smile. He had a sharp memory, recalling names, faces, and moments from his years as a cab driver as well as the many journeys his life took him on before, because he was always intent to listen attentively more than he spoke.
May his honesty encourage us to stay true to our values and only say words that we mean; may his thoughtfulness guide us to always extend a helping hand to others; may his curiosity inspire us to look at others and the world with wonder; and may his gentle spirit and love of nature encourage us all to tread softly upon this earth. We will miss him every day.
Roozbeh looked forward to pursuing humanitarian work in his retirement, but sadly his diagnosis interrupted that. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the UNHCR, the agency that brought Roozbeh to Canada and allowed our family to be together.
On Friday September 16, 2022 family and friends are invited to gather at Windsor Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 11 am for a grave side committal service. All are welcome to join the family at the Signature Tribute Events Center 3310 Dougall Ave. for a memorial visitation celebrating Roozbeh’s life following the service at the cemetery from 12:00pm until 3:00pm on Friday. Arrangements entrusted to Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor, 519-969-5841.
