On the evening of June 4, 2022 Faye Johnson, our dear and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother (GiGi) passed away peacefully at home (Sister Leila Greco Apartments) at the age of 95 years young.
Mum was born on March 9, 1927, in Duval, Sask. to Earl and Verna McDonald, into a family of 12 children. Mum married George Miller and then moved to Fort William (Thunder Bay) and started their family with daughter Maureen and son Clifford. Widowed, Faye met and married Edwin Anderson and expanded their family with sons David and Douglas. Widowed again, she married Erik Johnson, whom they spent a long joyful life together.
Mum worked many years at Agnew Surpass, Centennial Shoes and then with the Lakehead Board of Education in the cafeterias of Selkirk High School and Westgate High School before retiring. She was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church and after closing she became a devoted member of Hilldale Lutheran Church.
Mum and Erik spent many winters in Florida and then Meza, Arizona in retirement. Nothing was more important to her in her life than her family and her friends that she considered family. She loved and cherished each and every one of them. There were many McDonald’s Clan family reunions as family meant everything to her. She was our biggest supporter.
Mum is survived by her sister Orma Bigford of Lethbridge Alberta, daughter Maureen (Mel) Schmidt of Waterloo, Ontario. Son Clifford (Mary) Anderson, of Thunder Bay. Son David (Cindy) Anderson of Kettle Point, Ontario. Son Doug (Lesia) Anderson, of Thunder Bay.
She is also survived by her loving grandchildren Robert, Michael, Laurie (Chad) Schmidt, Jess (Ash), James, David JR. (Stacey), Tyler (Cassy) Anderson, Tammy (Shaun) Martin, Melissa (Justin) McGill, and Amanda (Hogan) Elder. Her precious great-grandchildren that she adored every day: Cole, Carly, Katie, Ben, Emily, Henry, Oliver, George, Alice, and Emery.
Mum was predeceased by her parents, 10 siblings, her husbands George Miller, Edwin Anderson and Erik Johnson and her daughter-in-law Sharon Anderson.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday June 17th at Hilldale Lutheran Church at 11:00am with visitation at 10:00am. A live stream of the service will be available through Hilldale website www.hilldale.net. Lunch will be provided following the service. Private family interment will be held after luncheon.
We ask that everyone to wear something red to honor Mum as this was her favorite colour.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hilldale Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice. Sincere thanks to the kind and compassionate staff of Sister Lelia Greco.
