Ewa Merta passed away suddenly but peacefully on August 28, 2022 in her home at the age of 66 years.
She was predeceased by her parents in Poland Maria and Kazimierz Gacka, her husband Andrzej Merta and her son Marcin Merta. Ewa is survived and lovingly remembered by her son Krzysztof and daughter Magda. She also leaves behind her sisters Halina and Barbara as well as many relatives in Poland.
Ewa was born and raised in Dzietrzkowice, Poland.
She finished school becoming a seamstress which was her passion throughout her life. Ewa got married in 1976. She moved to Gorzów Wielkopolski for a couple of years and from there moved to Wieruszow with her husband and 3 kids where she lived and worked as a seamstress till she came to Winnipeg, Canada in 1993.
In Canada, she continued to work as a seamstress. She had stopped working for a few years later due to health problems. She was supported the Polish community in many ways and one of many accomplishments was sewing costumes for the Polish dance group. Ewa enjoyed gardening, crocheting, embroidery work as well as baking which she did often.
Ewa had many call her mom, no matter the age and she loved everyone she met. She was a very strong individual that did so much for others.
She is missed dearly by many.
A prayer service will be held on Monday, September 5, 2022 at 6 PM at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Father Walery Bykowski officiating
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on August 6, 2022 at 10 AM at Holy Ghost Parish at 342 Pritchard Avenue in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Father Tomasz Koscinski officiating.
