Obituary of Evelyn Marian Liski
Evelyn Marian Liski (nee Wagner) left this world on Sunday, August 21, 2022, wrapped in love by her family. She was born in 1933 in Regina, SK. Evelyn’s childhood was spent on a farm near Regina, moving with her parents and sisters into the city to attend high school. After graduation, she married Art Liski and started a family. Evelyn always had a soft spot for children, so after the birth of daughter Diane, son Artie and the loss of infant daughter Debbie, she and Art made room in their hearts by becoming foster parents to approximately 40 babies over two decades. After that time Evelyn started her career at Safeway at the 12th Avenue and Broad Street location, lasting 25 years. Always needing to be busy, she continued to work following retirement into her 70s.
Evelyn loved music, especially 1950s jazz crooners, polkas, dancing, Harlequin romance, Roughrider games and soap operas. She was famous for her fried chicken, perogies, cabbage rolls, cinnamon buns and homemade soup. Evelyn was a cleaning machine with her favorite cleaning product being Pine-Sol. She was always impeccably dressed, even to go grocery shopping, and carried a grace, beauty and dignity into every situation. Evelyn was a true lady. Some of the best family memories are spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Weekends at the cottage at Highwood Beach were extra special as she would cook fabulous homemade meals, where everyone was welcome.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Art; infant daughter Debbie; great-granddaughter Natalia; parents Margaret and Adolph Wagner. She will be greatly missed by her sisters Theresa Kaminski and Margaret Grebinsky; and most especially by her children Diane (Irv), Artie, Judy (Brenda) and Donna. She is dearly loved by her grandchildren Lara (Denham), Marc (Cassi), Terry, Jessica (TJ), Amanda, and Andrew; and was a favorite of great-grandchildren Skye, Rowen, Evander, Cody, Ashton, Derek, Michael, Matthew, Maliyah, Mason and Gabriel; and great-great-grandchildren Jayce, Keenan, Kiarra, Diamond and Daxton. Evelyn was proud of all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will be missed for her wit, compassion and unconditional love.
