Evelyn Joan Flajs Woolley 2022

Obituary for
Evelyn Joan Flajs (Woolley)
Evelyn Joan of Edmonton, formerly of Andrew, AB, passed away March 25, 2022, at the age of 82 years, following surgery complications.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of 50+ years, Danilo; sons, Jason Seymour Flais and August Alison Flajs of Edmonton, AB; her special grandson, Haiden Azurah Flajs; siblings, Elizabeth “Betty” (Wayne) Tupper of Courtney, BC; Leonard Woolley of Oliver, BC; George (Janice) Woolley of Sundre, AB; and Albert Woolley of Edmonton, AB.
She is predeceased by her parents, Tom and Alice Woolley; son, Ehren Kristofer Flais; sister, Marilyn (Art) Evans; brother-in-law, Art Evans; sisters-in-law, Heather (Leonard) Woolley and Maureen (Albert) Woolley.
Evelyn was like a second mom for her younger siblings and was very good to them. She took great pride in taking care of everyone. Evelyn lived in a girl’s residence in Edmonton when she left home, where she met many friends that she treasured for the rest of her life. She went to secretarial school and worked as a stenographer and then a receptionist at an x-ray clinic for many years. She had the most beautiful handwriting ever seen. One of her happiest times was travelling to England with her friend, Marion. Another trip was to the Queen Charlotte Islands with another friend. Evelyn was a bit of a matchmaker and introduced her sister to her future husband, when she was working for the forestry service in Rocky Mountain House. Evelyn loved to dance, and she met Danilo Flajs on the dance floor in Edmonton. They got married and had 3 boys, Ehren, Jason and August who all became the center of her world, which eventually expanded to include her grandson, Haiden. If she was able, she was always at family functions and loved to be surrounded by her family. Evelyn loved to cook and bake and the more complicated the recipe, the better. She was very close to her Aunt Kathleen, who she would get together with on Sundays for crossword puzzles and pancakes. She was the recorder of the lives of the whole family, knowing and celebrating every birthday and anniversary; she was the unofficial family historian. Evelyn was devoted, she read the bible and believed that God would provide and take care of things. Evelyn’s presence will be sorely missed but her family is comforted, knowing she is pain free and at peace now.
Interment in Andrew at Minnie Cemetery.
