Evelyn Gionet 1929-

Bathurst – Mrs. Evelyn Gionet, wife of the late Gerard Gionet, of Lavigne St., Bathurst, passed away on Saturday December 25th, 2022, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, at the age of 93.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the Frank and Victorine (Aubie) Lavigne.
She is survived by one son, Eric Gionet (Gabriella Tymouski) of Fredericton.
Three daughters: Shirley Estey (Joe) of Moncton, Judy Draper (John) of Saint John and Lorrie Gionet (Daniel Vienneau) of Toronto
Eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
One sister, Viola Fisher of Bathurst.
Several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one brother, Byron and one sister, Alice Rouillier.
Evelyn was known for her baking; her specialty was apple pie. In her 80’s, she climbed Mount Carleton and was very proud of being so active at 93. She was a long-time member of Dusty Sneakers and Sacred Heart Cathedral Senior choir. She was a very giving person with a heart of gold.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday December 29th, 2022, at 11 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Bathurst with a reception to follow in the church basement.
Donations in memory of Evelyn may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
