It is with deep sadness we announce the
passing of Evelyn “Evie” Corinne
Mayne, age 93, of Amherst. Evelyn passed away
at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, surrounded by her
loving family on April 16, 2022.
Born in Springhill, NS, she was the
daughter of the late Corey and Grace (Wood) Moore.
The focus of Mum’s life revolved around
her family and friends. She was an active volunteer in the
community for many years. She was a member of the United
Church of Canada, Riverside Red Cross, Four Seasons 4-H Club,
Gathering of the Clans Festival, the Northumberland Hospital
Association, and the East Cumberland Lodge.
Mum enjoyed quilting, needlework,
ceramics, and cake decorating having made many beautiful cakes for
showers and weddings in the community. She and Dad loved to
dance and were a regular couple at dances in the area. A
talented seamstress, she often made clothes for her daughters and she
was a great fan of the Toni Home Permanent System, trying for many
years to make her straight haired daughters have flowing
curls.
Evie will be deeply missed by her
daughter Debra Singh (Selvon) Guelph ON; and Patricia Colson, Amherst,
NS; grandchildren Daniel Singh (Haidee Lam), Georgetown, ON, Joshua
Singh, Kitchener, ON; grandson in law Randy Stiles, Fergus, ON,
Matthew Colson (Megan McLeod), Amherst, NS and Jeremy Colson (Katelynn
Gallagher), Amherst, NS; great grandchildren Julian, Darian and
Preston Stiles, Noelle and Warren Singh, Abel and Arlo
Colson.
She is also survived by her, “loved
like a sister”, niece Donna Boyd (Fred) Bridgetown, NS; her,
“loved like a brother” cousin Sherman Adshade, Springhill,
NS; and her dear sister-in-law Mary Moore Valley Road, NS, as well as
many nieces and nephews and cousins.
She is predeceased by her husband of 70
years Donald Mayne; sisters Thelma (Norman) Thompson and Shirley
(Carl) Higgs; her brother Dalton Moore and her beloved granddaughter
Amy (Singh) Stiles.
At Evie’s request, cremation has taken
place and a family service will be held at a later date under the
direction of the Jones Family Funeral
Centre, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS

Donations in memory of Evie may be made
to the Cumberland County Hospice.
