Obituary
The death of Evelina Moriarty (Joncas) of Belledune, NB, occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on August 1, 2021, at the age of 80. Born in Jacquet River, she was the daughter of the late Helena (Lena) Guitard and Emmanuel Joncas. Evelina is survived by her husband of nearly 64 years, Merlin and her children: Debbie Blake (Yvon Comeau); Marlene Huisman (Bart); Bonnie (Edward Gaber); Ricky (Dawn); 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Racheal and two sisters Claudette and Merilda. Mom was very dedicated to our family. She loved us all from the oldest to the youngest! She always asked about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and it made her day to see pictures and hear updates on them. She was sooo very proud of us all! She always put us first and never complained about anything. Her kindness and love for us and her friends, even strangers, was unparalleled. She literally would give her last nickel to anyone in need even taking food from her cupboard to give to anyone she knew needed it more. Christmas was her favorite time of year, so she would start buying presents for family and friends in January to have for the coming holiday. Christmas decorations were up all year-round at her house! She enjoyed BINGO – she was a life-long player -, her pets, and her hats!! We will always remember and never forget her unselfishness and kindness. We can only hope to become more like her as we journey forward without her.
A memorial service will be held at the MacMillan & Drapeau Chapel, Benjamin River, on July 9th, 2022 at 2pm. Arrangements are in the care of MacMillan’s Funeral Home, Black Point.
