Eva May Magnusson (nee Poole)
Eva May Magnusson (nee Poole), age 91, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away suddenly on the 18th day of June 2022.
She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia (Terence); grandchildren, Candace (Glenn), Jonathan and Andrea (Shaun); great-grandchildren Tanner, Branson and Reid; sister Della and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her mother Winnifred; father Delbert; husband Johnny and her brothers Gilbert and Orval.
Eva was born March 22, 1931 in Carlyle, SK. She moved to Manitoba in 1950 where she met and married Johnny Magnusson in 1952. A year later they welcomed their daughter Sylvia into the world. Eva worked at MTS for many years where she became a manager and eventually retired after 38 years of service. Eva spent many selfless hours volunteering with the MTS Pioneers Club, Job’s Daughters and The Red Hat Society. In 2008, Eva was recognized as Selkirk’s Citizen of the year for her dedication to the community. Eva became Mrs. Christmas of Selkirk, MB when she founded the Selkirk Santa Parade of Lights. She chaired the parade for 16+ years and was honoured at the Manitoba Legislature for her hard work and volunteerism.
Eva will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of life was held on June 22, 2022 at Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk.
We would like to thank Dr. Graham and especially Caitlyn and all the staff at the Rosewood Personal Care Home in Stonewall, MB.
