Death notice for the town of: Altona, Province: Manitoba
Eva, my older sister. Much more than a sister, in fact – a mentor in life and a gentle, warmhearted confidante. She was always there for me, without fail.
My family and I travelled extensively and lived away from Altona for most of my life. We were, however, able to visit quite often. Whenever we did, we were welcomed and hosted royally. There was always something delicious on the stove at Eva’s house!
Eva was older than I was, so she remembered much more of the “growing up years” on the family farm. For me, she was able to fill in the details regarding our ancestry, background, relationships and so many of the experiences that we shared during those years. I cherish these memories greatly.
Eva has been not just a sister but a true soulmate. We have kept in touch regularly by telephone over the last few years with continued discussions about her family and mine. I always looked forward to these chats that would sometimes last for hours!
She was always warm, generous and kind with me and my family, and we will miss her dearly. Rest in peace, my dear sister.
